Arty Farty

i was looking forward and pestering Kara to got for the Voom Portraits exhibition with me at the National Museum.
It ends on 4th Jan, so its now or never!
Finally managed to go for it since its Public Holiday and Kara manage to squeeze me in her schedule
@2pm, parked car @ a Ulu Ulu location. Passed by the Peranakan Museum and decided to step in to make a quickie check out. so happens that "little Nonya" is the latest craze, so it was pretty crowded.

we than headed for lunch at Va Va Voom@ Seah street.
My long awaited Vietnamese food which i heard good reviews for Kara and Molies who tried it out on their previous Friday Supper Club Hang-out

after filling out tummies, we walked over to National Museum

Guess what, it was free admission for Peranakan Museum and THIS as well! It was free admission for All the exhibitions in National Museum! wow!

Through Voom Portraits, Robert Wilson is trying to create a portrait out of a still object. So, what he does is he get people and animals (live objects) to remain still or minimal slow movements to be filmed in video. Than he frames up these videos on a wall to look like a portrait picture.

It is quite amazing. from a distance away, you will think and see a portrait, however as you walk vloser to the screen, only than will you realise and see that it is a video and there is movements.

yes, this is Brad Pitt, gals, go Gaga!

This is a real porcupine

after this, we hopped to the next exhibit called DOUBLENESS

In Doubleness,Chiang-Chien-Chi is portraying the stark contrast and irony in life.
the man in the picture below is an illegal immigrant, he bunks with 5 other man who are illegal immigrants as well. Their activity is only to work, eat, gamble and sleep. Their lives are very contained, they can only afford to send $ home. They can't go out shopping etc for fear of being caught.
Chiang-Chien-Chi uses black/white for these series.

on the stark contrast to the Illegal Immigrant's life,
Chiang-Chien-Chi uses Colour settings to capture reunited families and happy families /couples, like the lady below, preparing a meal for her family.

I found my family name "Zheng" in the Hundred Family names walls

after ending my tour in Chiang's exhibit,
me and Kara passed by throught the 60's exhibition where Vespa was the IN thing

Ip Man rocks!
